The Tools You Need For Academic Success

Medical school is not an easy experience, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. We provide you with a number of resources to ensure that you have the best chance to succeed.

Academic Advising

We offer academic advising through our registrar’s office, which provides support with student schedules, academic course sequencing, advanced standing and special schedules. Whether you need assistance understanding the curriculum or need help finding motivation in your studies, our academic advisors are here to guide you throughout your entire academic journey. We encourage you to use their services to assist you with your academic and professional development.

In addition to academic advisors, you have additional support through our faculty mentoring and career services offices. Your faculty mentors provide guidance regarding the naturopathic profession and connect you to the rest of the Sonoran community for answers to questions that arise in academic planning.

Each student’s academic progress is evaluated on a quarterly basis. Students with advanced standing, transfer credits, on a decelerated track or on academic probation are required to meet with an academic advising specialist and dean of students.

Learning Specialist

Fine-tune your study skills. Our learning specialist will help make your academic experience the best it can possibly be. Stop by to ask questions or get tips on studying more efficiently, managing time, improving test performance, addressing test anxiety or other related concerns.

Students can find handouts related to learning and other resources at my.sonoran.edu under “Learning Resources & Support.”

Tutoring Center

Maybe there’s a class you’re really struggling with or you’re having a hard time finishing homework and studying for tests. You can stop by the tutoring center to receive free help from fellow classmates.

The Doctoré Development Center (DDC) staffs upper-class students in good academic standing available for free one-to-one tutoring. These tutors can help you with specific course content, study skills, time-management and general advice about how to manage the rigorous curriculum.

Tutoring center hours vary quarter to quarter.
