Dr. Korey DiRoma

Class of 2007

Dr. Korey DiRoma graduated from Sonoran in 2007 and currently practices at the Stram Center for Integrative Medicine in Delmar, New York. “I was looking for an integrative practice. I wanted to work with conventional doctors as well as acupuncturists and massage therapists.” He says the Stram Center is a perfect fit as it is run by an MD. This makes practicing naturopathic medicine in an unlicensed state such as New York much easier.

In terms of advice for new graduates, Dr. DiRoma emphasizes making a connection with patients. “Patience is key when you are with people one on one, really listening, caring and educating. I think that is what brings people back.” He also notes that he never gives the impression that he is in a hurry and his patients receive his undivided attention. This is what sets naturopathic doctors apart from most MDs and is a key to success. Word of mouth referrals are very important, so when an ND develops a quality relationship with a patient it helps to expand his or her practice.

Even though he was born in California and attended school in Arizona, Dr. DiRoma enjoys living and practicing in New York. “The outdoors are pretty nice. I like to go to the Adirondacks for camping, fishing, hiking and kayaking.” He also enjoys snowboarding in the winter and golfing in the summer.

Dr. DiRoma received his Bachelor’s in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Arizona. He also practices at Stram Center’s office in Vermont.
