A Healthcare Revolution

Evolving Tradition

What's Next in Integrative Medicine

At Sonoran University of Health Sciences, Evolving Tradition means taking what works: compassion, whole‑person care, and natural medicine, and strengthening it with modern research, smart technology, and measurable outcomes. It’s how we prepare the next generation of integrative and naturopathic clinicians to meet real needs in a changing healthcare system. We are Evolving Tradition: compassion first, evidence‑informed care, whole‑person focus, increased access, and technology that amplifies human connection rather than replacing it.

Lise's Vision

Listen to Sonoran University President & CEO, Dr. Lise Alschuler, talk about her bold vision for the future of the University. Together, we can evolve the tradition of healing into a future defined by compassion, innovation, and global reach.

Learning Built for the Future

Our students learn in programs that connect natural medicine and mind-body healing with rigorous science, clinical experience, and digital tools, helping to prepare students who are ready for impact in clinics, community health, research, and beyond. We’re designing environments that help students think deeply and practice confidently: embracing high‑quality digital learning, immersive tools, and collaborative spaces that make complex topics clearer and clinical skills stronger.

Botanical & Natural Medicine Research with Reach

Our botanical research ecosystem turns curiosity into contribution. We are supporting evidence‑informed natural therapeutics and student‑faculty scholarship that can improve healthcare locally and globally.  The Ric Scalzo Institute for Botanical Research is part of our commitment to evolve tradition responsibly: honoring botanical therapeutic origins while applying modern standards for safety, effectiveness, and environmental responsibility.

Clinical Education that Meets People Where They Are

Demand for integrative and naturopathic care is growing. We’re expanding clinical training and access to care – on campus, in the community, and through virtual care so more people receive whole‑person, prevention‑focused support. For students, that means more hands‑on learning and pathways to career enhancing experiences – broadening their knowledge and deepening their understanding of the integrative health care system. All experiences for students are a direct way to expand equitable access and measurable outcomes.

Progress here is a team effort. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters aligned around a simple idea: healthcare should be both human and effective. That’s what evolving tradition looks like at Sonoran University and it’s what we’re building carefully, ambitiously, and together.
